Why does my BMW 3 Series make a strange noise when I turn the steering wheel?

I recently noticed that my BMW 3 Series makes a strange noise whenever I turn the steering wheel. It sounds like a creaking or squeaking sound. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Hi Nora, this is a common issue with BMW 3 Series steering systems. The most likely cause of the noise is a worn out ball joint or control arm bushing. I recommend getting this checked by a mechanic as soon as possible and replacing any faulty parts.

Hey Nora, I had the same issue with my BMW 3 Series and it turned out to be a loose power steering belt. Make sure to check the belt tension and tighten it if necessary. If the noise persists, it could also be a sign of a failing power steering pump.
