Why is the engine warning light on in my BMW Z4?

I recently noticed that the engine warning light in my BMW Z4 turned on. I'm not sure what could be causing this and I'm worried about potential damage to my car. What could be the cause of this issue and how can I fix it?

First, don't panic. The engine warning light can indicate a wide range of issues, from a simple loose gas cap to a more serious engine malfunction. It's best to take your car to a trusted mechanic to have it diagnosed and fixed.

It's possible that your car's computer has detected an error in one of the systems and has turned on the warning light as a precaution. You can try resetting the light by disconnecting the car's battery for a few minutes, but if the light reappears, it's best to have the car checked by a professional.

If you recently refueled, make sure your gas cap is securely tightened. A loose gas cap can cause the engine warning light to turn on. If this doesn't solve the issue, it's best to have a mechanic check your car.
