Why is my BMW X3 engine making a knocking sound?

I've noticed that my BMW X3's engine has started making a strange knocking sound. It only happens when I'm idling or driving at low speeds. Is this something I need to be concerned about?

The knocking sound could be a sign of an engine issue, such as worn bearings or a failing oil pump. I recommend bringing your car to a mechanic for a diagnostic test.

It's possible that the knocking sound is caused by something as simple as low oil levels. Check your oil regularly and top it off if needed. If the problem persists, have a mechanic take a look.

I've heard similar complaints from other BMW X3 owners. It's likely an issue with the electronic timing chain tensioner. You should take your car to a BMW dealership for a repair.
