Why does my BMW 5 Series engine make a whirring noise?

I recently started noticing a strange whirring noise coming from my BMW 5 Series engine. It seems to happen when I accelerate and gets louder as I speed up. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

The most common cause of a whirring noise in a BMW 5 Series engine is a problem with the alternator. It could be a loose belt or a faulty bearing, but either way, it's important to get it checked out and fixed as soon as possible before it causes further damage. I recommend taking your car to a trusted BMW mechanic and having them take a look.

Another possible cause could be an issue with the power steering pump. If the whirring noise only happens when you turn the steering wheel, then this is likely the culprit. Fortunately, this is a relatively easy and affordable fix. Take your car to a mechanic and they should be able to replace the faulty part for you.
