I am a new BMW M9 driver and I noticed a button labelled 'Active M Differential' near the gear shift. What does this button do and when should I use it? Also, I am unsure if I should have it activated or not.
ReplyThe Active M Differential is an electronic mechanical limited-slip differential that basically distributes the engine's power between the rear wheels. It helps to improve traction and handling, especially in tight turns or on slippery surfaces. It is recommended to have it activated for optimal performance and safety.
You can think of it as the brain of the car. It constantly monitors and adjusts the power distribution between the rear wheels to provide the best traction and stability. It is definitely a great feature to have, especially when driving on challenging road conditions.
