How to troubleshoot a faulty brake sensor in a BMW?

I recently noticed that my BMW's brake sensor is not functioning properly. How can I troubleshoot this issue and fix it myself? Are there any common causes for this problem and what steps should I follow to diagnose and resolve it?

First, check the brake sensor fuse to make sure it is not blown. If it is, replace it. If the fuse is fine, then you can use a multimeter to test the sensor's electrical connection and see if it is functioning properly. If the sensor is reading as faulty, it may need to be replaced.
