How to troubleshoot an overheating engine in a BMW XM?

I noticed that my BMW XM is starting to overheat more frequently. The temperature gauge is reaching the red zone and I'm concerned that this could lead to serious engine damage. What could be causing this and what can I do to fix it?

First, check the coolant level. If it's low, top it off with the recommended coolant for your BMW XM model. If the coolant is at the correct level, the issue could be with the thermostat or water pump. It's best to take your car to a certified BMW technician for proper diagnosis and repair. Depending on the age and mileage of your car, it may also be time for a coolant flush and replacement.
