I recently purchased a BMW M1 and I am interested in properly maintaining its electronic ignition system. What steps should I follow to ensure it remains in top condition?

First and foremost, make sure to regularly clean and inspect the ignition wires and connections. Use a mild detergent and a soft cloth for cleaning and replace any damaged wires or connections.

Additionally, be sure to check the spark plugs for wear and tear and replace them if necessary. It's also a good idea to clean the distributor cap and rotor every 10,000 miles to remove any built-up debris.
