How can I reset the iDrive system in my BMW XM?

I accidentally changed some settings in the iDrive system and now I can't seem to figure out how to reset it. Is there a way to do this without having to take it to a dealership?

Yes, there is a simple way to reset the iDrive system in your BMW XM. In order to do this, you will need to hold down the iDrive knob for about 20 seconds until the screen turns off. After that, release the knob and then hold it down again for another 20 seconds. This should reset the system and allow you to start fresh.
