Why is the exhaust volume of the BMW M3 so low compared to other performance cars?

I've been looking at other cars in the same class as the BMW M3 and noticed that they all seem to have a louder exhaust. Is there a reason for this? Is it something that can be modified or upgraded?

It's all about balance. The M3 is a high performance car that is designed to be driven both on the track and on the streets. The engineers at BMW have designed the exhaust system to provide the perfect balance between performance and noise levels. While it may seem quieter than other cars, trust me when I say that it still has an incredibly satisfying exhaust note. As for modifications, while it is possible to upgrade the exhaust, it may affect the overall balance of the car and could potentially cause other issues down the line.

It all comes down to personal preference. While other performance cars may have a louder exhaust, some people prefer the more subtle sound of the M3. The exhaust tone can also vary depending on driving mode and speed. If you want a louder exhaust, there are aftermarket options available, but keep in mind that it may affect the overall performance and reliability of the car.
