Why is my BMW X4 engine making a tapping noise?

I recently noticed that my BMW X4's engine is making a tapping noise when I start the car. It goes away after a few minutes of driving. Should I be concerned about this? Is it a sign of a bigger problem?

It is not uncommon for BMW X4 engines to make a tapping noise on start-up. This is usually due to cold oil being pumped through the engine and should go away as the oil warms up. However, if the noise persists or gets louder, it could be a sign of a larger issue. It is always best to have a mechanic take a look at it, just to be safe.

The tapping sound could be coming from the valves or lifters in your BMW X4's engine. This is usually not a cause for concern, but it is always best to have a mechanic check it out to make sure. They may need to adjust the valves or replace the lifters if they are worn.

I had the same issue with my BMW X4 and it turned out to be a loose timing chain. It is important to get this checked out immediately, as a loose timing chain can cause extensive damage to your engine. I recommend taking it to a certified BMW mechanic for a proper diagnosis.
