Why is my BMW X3 engine making a ticking noise?

I recently noticed that my BMW X3's engine is making a ticking noise. It's not very loud, but it's definitely noticeable. What could be causing this and should I be concerned?

It's likely that the ticking noise is coming from the engine's valves. This is a normal sound and nothing to worry about. However, it's always a good idea to have a mechanic check it out just to make sure everything is functioning properly.

The ticking noise could also be caused by low engine oil. Check your oil levels and make sure they are within the recommended range. If they are low, top up your oil and see if the noise goes away. If it persists, it's best to have a professional take a look at it.
