Why is my BMW X3 engine making a loud clicking noise?

I recently noticed that my BMW X3's engine has been making a loud clicking noise. It seems to happen more often when I first start the car and then goes away after a few minutes of driving. What could be causing this noise and should I be worried?

This loud clicking noise could be caused by a number of things, but it is most likely an issue with your valve train. I would recommend taking your car to a certified BMW mechanic to have it checked out.
