Why does my BMW M2's engine make a whining noise?

I recently bought a BMW M2 and noticed that the engine makes a high-pitched whining noise. It's especially noticeable when I accelerate. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

It is not normal for the engine of a BMW M2 to make a whining noise. It could be a sign of a faulty belt or pulley. I would recommend taking it to a mechanic for further inspection.
