Why does my BMW 3 Series engine make a rattling noise?

I have noticed that my BMW 3 Series engine makes a rattling noise whenever I accelerate. It seems to be coming from the front of the car. What could be causing this issue?

It is possible that your engine is experiencing a problem with the timing chain. This should be addressed as soon as possible as it could lead to more serious engine damage.
