What causes the regenerative braking system to fail on the BMW i8?

I have noticed that the regenerative braking system on my BMW i8 has stopped working. It used to work perfectly, but now it doesn't seem to be charging my battery anymore. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?

Hi Maria, this could be due to a number of reasons. One possibility is that there could be a fault in the braking system itself, causing it to not generate enough energy to charge the battery. Another possibility is that there could be an issue with the battery itself, which is preventing it from being charged. It's best to take your car to a certified BMW mechanic to diagnose and fix the issue. In the meantime, try to avoid aggressive braking and use the brake pedal lightly to preserve the battery.

Hi Maria, have you checked the level of your brake fluid recently? If the fluid is low, it could be causing the regenerative braking system to fail. You can top up the fluid yourself or take it to a mechanic if you're not comfortable doing it on your own. Also, check for any warning lights on your dashboard that could indicate a problem with the braking system. It's always better to be safe than sorry!
