Is it normal for the BMW X5 to make a ticking noise when idle?

I just purchased a brand new BMW X5 and I've noticed that it makes a ticking noise when it's in idle mode. Is this normal or should I be concerned about potential issues with the engine?

Hi Samantha, congratulations on your new BMW X5! It is completely normal for the engine to make a ticking noise when it's in idle mode. This is typically caused by the fuel injectors and is nothing to worry about. However, if you notice any changes in the sound or other unusual noises, it's always best to have it checked by a certified mechanic just to be safe.

Hello Samantha, I have a BMW X5 myself and it also makes a ticking noise when it's in idle mode. I was initially concerned about it as well, but after doing some research and speaking with my mechanic, I found out that it's completely normal. BMW engines are known for making this noise and it doesn't affect the performance or longevity of the car. Enjoy your new ride!
