I have been experiencing frequent stalling issues with my BMW XM, especially when the engine is cold. How can I diagnose and fix this issue?
ReplyFirst, check the spark plugs and ignition coils. These are common culprits for engine stalling. If they are worn or faulty, replace them.
Another possible cause is a clogged fuel filter. This can restrict fuel flow to the engine, leading to stalling. Replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been replaced in the last 20,000 miles.
A failing fuel pump can also cause stalling. If the fuel pump is not delivering enough pressure to the engine, it can disrupt the fuel-air mixture and result in stalling. Have a mechanic test the fuel pressure to determine if the pump needs to be replaced.
