First, check your coolant levels and make sure they are at the appropriate level. If they are low, top off with a coolant and water mixture. Then, check for any leaks in the cooling system. It's important to also check the radiator for any blockages or damage. If everything appears to be in good condition, the issue may be with the thermostat. Consider replacing it if necessary.

Another common cause of engine overheating in BMWs is a faulty water pump. If you have ruled out any other issues, it may be worth checking the water pump for any signs of wear or damage. If needed, have it replaced by a mechanic.

In some cases, the issue may be with the radiator fan not functioning properly. Test the fan by letting the engine run for a while and checking if the fan turns on. If it doesn't, it may need to be replaced.
