How often should the oil be changed on a BMW 5 Series?

I recently purchased a BMW 5 Series and I am wondering how often I should change the oil. I have heard varying opinions on this topic and want to make sure I am maintaining my car correctly.

According to BMW, the oil should be changed every 10,000 - 12,500 miles or at least once a year. However, if you tend to drive in extreme conditions such as high temperatures or stop-and-go traffic, it is recommended to change the oil more frequently, around every 5,000 - 7,500 miles.

I have been a mechanic for over 15 years and in my experience, I recommend changing the oil every 7,500 - 10,000 miles. This will ensure your engine stays well lubricated and prolong its lifespan.
