How do I reset my BMW 4 Series onboard computer?

I recently purchased a used BMW 4 Series and I noticed that the onboard computer seems to be malfunctioning. It will sometimes freeze or not respond to my inputs. How can I reset it?

First, try holding down the 'Menu' and 'Eject' button simultaneously for 10 seconds. This will perform a soft reset of the onboard computer. If that doesn't work, you may need to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then reconnect it.

I had a similar issue with my BMW 4 Series and I found that performing a software update through the iDrive system solved the problem. You can also check for any error codes using a BMW scanner tool.
