How do I activate Apple CarPlay in my BMW 7 Series?

I recently purchased a BMW 7 Series and I am trying to activate Apple CarPlay. I cannot seem to find the option in the settings. Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions on how to activate it? Thanks!
